Introduction Wide Horizons

June 2006, Wide Horizons program is found in Moe Sot for migrant education. In Wide Horizons, it provides professional development for community development workers and this is achieved through focused training in English, Computer, organizational skills and project management. The aim is to enable students to lead successful organization and projects in their communities. All of this is achieved in safe environment that promotes tolerance, diversity and leadership. June 2009 – April 2010 academic year, there are 10 different ethnic come from different parts of Burma and different experience from different organization. Which are called Arakanese, Karen, Karenni, Kayan, Mon, Burmese, Tavoyan, Chin, Shan and Kachin and there are 3 teachers and one coordinator. We also have a policy that every student has to speak only English language during study in this Wide Horizons program a whole year. Our program is 10 months course and there are 23 students of 12 males and 11 females. They are living with family, brother and sister and learn together, working with team. The community of Wide Horizons believes students attended the Wide Horizons program all students can learn and succeed. All individuals have worth and importance. All individuals deserve to be treated with dignity and respect. All individuals need to be lifelong learners and problem solvers. All individuals have a right to a safe environment that promotes equitable learning opportunities. An education can make a difference in people’s lives. Teaching and learning must be a collaborative and cooperative effort between students, teachers and the community.
